Policies

All Policies shown are part of the Nicole Cares Contract for child care.

Enrollment

Rates are determined by: age of child and full time or part time care. Full time is considered 5 days per week. Part time is considered 4 or less days per week. Children ages 0-2 are considered infant. Children ages 6 and older is considered school age. It is parent’s responsibility to notify Nicole Cares if absent, arriving or picking up early or late. *Hours and days may be changed within a two-week notice. Nonrefundable 2 week deposit required that will go towards the 2 week notice for termination.

 

Meal times: are regulated by CSN Food Program. Please make sure your child has eaten before coming to daycare if arriving later than meal time.

Breakfast is 8-8:30 am            Lunch is 11:30- Noon                Snack is 3-3:15 pm

 

Immunization: records are required before care by any child care home and must be kept current

2-3 Months

Polio, DTP, Hib, and Hep B

4-5 Months

2 Each: Polio, DTP, Hib, and Hep

6-14 Months

3 DTP; 2 Each: Polio, Hib, and Hep

15-17 Months

3 Each: DTP, Polio, Hib, and Hep B, 1 MRR- after 1st birthday regardless if completed before

Fees:

Tuition is due at the arrival time of the first day of the payment period, unless on supportive services. The payment period can be biweekly or monthly. Tuition is nonrefundable for up to two weeks. Payments are preferred to be made through an invoice, cash, or check. Checks are to be made out to Nicole Schemel. Regular tuition is due regardless of attendance. *Rates and payment schedule may be changed with a two-week notice.

 

Late payments will result in a fee of $5 per day after the first day of the payment period. So, if the child comes on Tuesday and Thursday, the payment period begins on Tuesday. Failure to make a payment or continuous absence for two weeks will result in automatic termination—unless otherwise communicated.

 

Children must be picked up and dropped off, within hours of operation (Monday - Friday: 7:30 am – 5 pm) by an authorized person with state ID if requested. More than one early drop-off or late pick-up will result in a $10 additional fee per 15 minutes, due to on the next day or following bill. More than three late pick-ups may result in the termination of the contract.

 

Holidays and Vacation

After 1 month of enrollment you get:

  • 2 tuition week half-rate sick time per calendar year 

  • 1 week of half-rate vacation per calendar year, with at least a two-week notice.

       o   Parents are responsible for notifying the provider at least two weeks prior to vacation

       o   You must request sick days and vacation days to be used

       o   Unused vacation days do not roll over to the following year

       o   Half-rate vacation week can be the same week the provider uses as a vacation regardless of the start date

 

The daycare will be closed during the following times: Alternative care is the responsibility of the parent. Regular tuition will be paid.

  • The provider is allowed 2 fully paid sick days per calendar year. 

    • Regular tuition will resume when the children can return safely.​

  • The provider may take one week of paid vacation per calendar year, with at least two-week notice. (Usually mid-April)

  • In an emergency, if sick time is used, up to 1 month of emergency leave may be used for covid closure, medical, maternity, or bereavement leave at a half rate.

Our goal is to keep all children and staff safe and healthy

Sick Policy

To prevent the spread of germs and illness, as mandated by childcare licensing, symptomatic children will be sent home. It is the parent’s responsibility to care for or find alternative care for children who become sick. Children should be clean, wear clean weather-appropriate clothes, and be free from illnesses before coming to daycare. Children may be sent home if any of the following are observed by Nicole or her staff, regardless of a note. Please be sure asthma and allergy symptoms are managed. Children with these symptoms will be sent home and required to test or quarantine before returning. Children will be separated from friends and must be picked up as soon as able, no more than 1 hour. If a child is sent home they must stay home the following day and until there are none of the following symptoms.

 

Children with any of the following symptoms will need to stay home:

  • Runny nose for 20 minutes and/or green mucus

  • Continuous coughing/congestion

  • One temperature above 100 degrees

  • Vomiting or diarrhea

  • Pale, clammy, lethargic, or generally unwell

  • Exposure to contagious/communicable illness

 

Please keep your child home if they are injured 

  • Sprained or broken body parts

  • Open wound 

  • Burn with a blister (open or not)

  • Any injury requiring special attention, monitoring, or continued first aid

  • ​Please notify me of any minor injuries: bruises, cuts, minor burns, or bites

 

ZERO TOLERANCE symptom policy* updated 5/1/23

  • Children exposed to, suspected of having, or tested positive for a communicable illness including Covid, Flu, RSV, HFMD, Pink eye, and Norovirus, will remain out of care at the health department's recommendation and/or all symptoms are gone for at least 48 hours.

  • It is the parent's responsibility to notify me of possible exposure, pending tests, and when symptoms begin.

  • Ignoring or masking symptoms is cause for immediate termination â€‹

 

Daily screening: 

  • Does/did your child have any symptoms? 

  • Is/was anyone in your home symptomatic?

  • Has anyone in your household been exposed to someone who tested positive or suspected of having COVID-19

Client Responsibilities

For safety reasons, please knock or ring the doorbell before entering, unless explicitly specified. Please text if arriving during nap time, between 12 and 3 PM.

  • Blankets and pillows will be provided and will be washed regularly. However, if you wish to bring blankets, pillows, or stuffed animals from home that is allowed, but will stay and be washed with daycare supplies.

  • Please refrain from bringing small toys

  • Please label cups and food from home with the child’s name

    • Cups will be provided

  • For the safety of each child, food that is brought to share with others must be store-bought

  • Immunizations are required prior to enrollment

  • Please let me know if you prefer to leave supplies, bags, blankets, or cups. I will provide space/cubby

  • Items brought from home or typically returned back and forth are not allowed. Essential supplies only. Unused store-bought donations are welcome.

What to bring: Masks are no longer required

  1. Disposable diapers/pull-ups (if needed)

  2. One pack of disposable wipes

  3. At least one complete change of clothes in a sealed bag and weather-appropriate shoes

1 (optional)Gallon of water and 3 cans of meal foods for disaster kit; if unused will be returned.

*You are welcome to have supplies delivered and bring bulk supplies*

 

All forms, record copies, and contracts must be filled out and returned before the child enters care

  • It is the parent’s responsibility to notify of a change of marital status, address, phone number, job, and emergency contacts.

 

Infants:

  • If the mother wishes to breastfeed at the facility a private place will be provided to do so

  • Please label the breast milk with the child’s name and date pumped

    • The breast milk will be used within 48 hours of the date labeled

    • Frozen breast milk will be stored or used two weeks from the pump date

·         Parent’s Choice brand infant formula will be provided, however, if a specific brand is preferred the parent must provide formula

Special Permissions 

What needs parental consent includes but is not limited to:

Need a signed doctor note with instructions and IMS action plan:

  • Prescription medication

  • Any special need including but not limited to

  • Asthma

  • Diabetes

  • Seizures

  • Diabetes

  • Allergies

  • Lactose intolerance

*Please be sure asthma and allergy symptoms are managed. Children with emergent symptoms will be sent home*

The parent may supply and give  permission to use the following items as needed for the child

  • Diaper cream

  • Baby powder

  • Any ointment including sunscreen

  • Over the counter medications – LIC 9221 Daily parental permission required

I give Nicole Cares permission to allow my child to use play equipment including slides, swings, bounce houses, trampoline, climbers, and water play equipment. 

  

The parent gives permission to take and use photographs or videos of the child in the following ways:    

  • Send to parent (you)

  • Provider's Photo Books, Craft Projects, Share with Current Clients (via newsletter, bulletin boards, etc.)

  • Promotional Material for Prospective Clients  

  • Online: Facility's Business Website

  • Online: General Social Media sites

 

(Policy is in place to protect the child's privacy. Photos may be taken by the provider, an assistant, or a designated photographer, but will never be sold for commercial use.)
